What is it all about?
Ever felt you have something more to give your world - but haven't had the chance to do it?

Well, activate yourself and activate your community  - through volunteering! Activ8 is a new program for 18-35 year olds around Morwell. It's a broad program for anyone interested in making a difference in their community in any area - childcare, mental health, sport, environment, art - the list goes on.

All you need is to have an interest in volunteering and leadership, but little or no experience.

What will I do?
You will participate in courses which give you skills in leadership, working with groups, project management, communication, and community development. You can even have your community development course assessed so that you get a nationally recognised certificate.

During a short placement with a local organisation, you will get to work with great people in an area that interests you. You will then get to manage your very own small project. All with the help of experienced people ready to support you when you need it.

What will it give me?
You will be able to learn all about community leadership through volunteering. You'll participate in courses that will help you develop community leadership skills and embrace opportunities while volunteering with amazing, experienced people. By the end you will have the skills and confidence to go out and lead a group or a project as a volunteer - to activate your community!

When?
You will need to be able to commit to about four hours per week. The first program will run from June to November 2007, the second program will run from April to September 2008.

Where?
Around the Latrobe Valley. The first program will be run in Morwell.

How much will it co$t?
Nothing! This program is supported by the Department for Victorian Communities.

How can I find out more?
