If you're evactuated, be sure to register: Red Cross
7 December 2006
- In situations where people are evacuated from the scene of an emergency such as a bushfire, the National Registration & Inquiry System (NRIS) maintains a registry of evacuees and the injured
- If you evacuate, please register at your closest relief centre
Red Cross volunteers will record your details, including the address and contact number (if available) of where you intend to stay
Red Cross volunteers can then answer inquiries from concerned relatives and friends
This procedure is particularly useful if telephone networks are unavailable in the event of an emergency
Your details will not be released without your permission
For people wishing to enquire after family and friends affected by an emergency, please check local arrangements regarding the phone number to call
