Good Start Breakfast Club

The GSBC is an Australian Red Cross programme operating in schools in partnership with Sanitarium. Volunteers provide breakfast for primary school children with the greatest need. The service provides not only a nutritional breakfast in a comforting environment but also works towards encouraging children to develop social and living skills. Through nutritional and social support, the GSBC program can help young school students achieve their full potential.
Australia Red Cross runs Good Start Breakfast Clubs from 8am to 9am every weekday in more than 20 primary schools across Victoria. Students are encouraged to take responsibility for the preparation of their own breakfast as well as cleaning up, and volunteers can find themselves helping with homework, serving breakfast cereal or just having a friendly chat with the students. The program receives strong support from local communities.
