VOLUNTEER POSITION DESCRIPTION

Position Title:          yconnect? Administration Officer

Department:           Youth

Supervisor:             Project Officer – yconnect?
  
Hours:                   One day or half day per fortnight 
                            (Mon-Fri 9am-5pm)

Position Description:
The yconnect? Administration Officer is a voluntary position that helps to develop and implement procedures for recruitment and selection of volunteers for yconnect? community programs as well as maintain yconnect? volunteers. The position will be for one day or half day  per fortnight, working at ARCV Office with the yconnect? project officer in the Youth department.

Selection Criteria -
Essential for all Australian Red Cross  positions
* Ensure commitment to the philosophy and principles of Australian Red Cross and the Red Cross Red Crescent Movement.
* Adhere to the Seven Fundamental Principles of the Red Cross Red Crescent Movement (being Humanity, Impartiality, Neutrality, Independence, Voluntary Service, Unity, and Universality).
* A commitment to a child-safe organisation.
* The successful completion of National Criminal Check and/or Working with Children Check. Ability to positively contribute to child safe organisation, and adherence to ARC Child Protection Policies and Practices.

Tasks:
* Sending out welcome packs to new yconnect? volunteers
* Developing materials and guidelines for recruitment and selection for yconnect? volunteer positions
* Conducting phone or face-to-face interviews for volunteer positions within yconnect?
* Performing reference checks for potential volunteers
* Maintaining contact with volunteers to gain feedback about their roles and experiences
* Helping to maintain the volunteer database and keep records for active volunteers
* Conducting exit interviews for volunteers leaving

Skills and Experience:

Essential -
* Interest in providing a humanitarian service, and ability to work within the Fundamental Principles of Red Cross
* Knowledge of recruitment and selection processes and/or admin skills
* Understanding of ARCV’s vision and mission to support vulnerable people
* Ability to work within operational policies & procedures, and maintain confidentiality
* Ability to work as part of a team and independently
* Ability to communicate effectively
* Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds
* Satisfactory results from a Police Records Check, and reference checks
* NB: ARCV does not engage volunteers for more than 2 days a week in total
