Isolated older people

Geoff has been a Telecross client since June 2006. He relies on Telecross for regular contact with someone to make sure he is safe and well.

The irony of our modern age, in which there are more ways to connect than ever before, is that many people find themselves cut off from family, friends and community. Social isolation can affect anyone: men, women, employed and unemployed, people of any age and from all sorts of different cultural backgrounds may become isolated.

Red Cross is focussing on isolated older people who experience multiple disadvantage or are vulnerable. We work to enhance isolated older people's social connectedness to improve their quality of life and support their mental health.

Red Cross provides programs using our network of volunteers to connect people who are isolated back into their communities, decreasing isolation and improving their quality of life through simple human contact.
