Brian Ward, National Vice Chairman of Australian Red Cross and Chair of the Bali Assistance Fund Steering Committee will be in Adelaide next Thursday, 8 May.
He will present on the topic, Bali Appeal – where are we now?, providing up to date information on developments six months on. Media are invited to attend.
‘This is the biggest and most successful appeal ever undertaken by Australian Red Cross. Over the past six months, the Australian Red Cross has expended $3,947,000 thus far to cover the needs of Australian victims, implemented four key domestic programs of support and assisted 459 people Australia-wide,’ said Mr Ward.
The Australian Red Cross Bali Appeal raised $14.3 million, which is being used to help victims and their families and to establish long term assistance programs.
Mr Ward will be a guest speaker at an evening function which marks World Red Cross Day, May 8, the birthday of the Society’s founder Henry Dunant. World Red Cross Day is celebrated by 179 Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies around the world.
Other attractions will include a song from one of South Australia's most promising young performers, Andrew Campbell.
