Record year at Boys Day Out

The sporting legends were there - up close and personal - much to the delight of this year's lucky Red Cross Boys Day Out attendees.

It was the largest crowd and most money ever raised in the seven-year history of the signature Red Cross event held on 12 September at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre.

Over 600 'boys' drawn from the corporate and business world, had the chance to rub shoulders with past and present Australian sporting celebrities under a 'Sport and its Legends' theme.

The Boys Day Out raised over $85,000 for the save-a-mate program

Legends from a range of Australian sporting activities made this year's Boys Day Out a fun afternoon and excellent fundraising event.

The afternoon got off to a great start with a roaring welcome from Adelaide's Grid Iron team and their cheerleaders.Channel 7 sports personality Bruce Abernethy did a super job as MC for the fast-paced afternoon of fun, entertainment and sport appreciation.

Featured on stage was cricketer Wayne Phillips who interviewed Rachael Sporn, former Olympian and Adelaide Quit Lightning captain. This year the 'boys' dug deep - raising over $85,000 from a mixture of silent and live auctions, raffles and donations.

Proceeds will go to helping our save-a-mate program deliver vital peer education to young people on the impacts of alcohol and other drugs.
