Australian Red Cross launches Gladstone SA Factory Blast Appeal

A special emergency appeal has been launched by Australian Red Cross to assist the people affected by the tragic Factory Blast in Gladstone South Australia on Tuesday.

Kerry Symons, Executive Director, Australian Red Cross, South Australia, says the Gladstone SA Factory Blast Appeal has been set up in cooperation with the State Government to help victims and their families. “Our role under the Emergency Management Act in these urgent situations is to work with State Government as part of its emergency response capabilities,” said Ms Symons.

“We have been asked to help coordinate fundraising efforts for those in need following the blast. We will be working with the State Government and Northern Areas Council to ensure donations will be used to assist families affected by this tragedy.”
Ms Symons said all funds raised will go to aid victims.

“We are asking people for their generous financial support to help those who have been affected by this tragic event,” said Ms Symons.

Ms Symons said Red Cross is accepting donations made by cash, cheque and credit card, unfortunately gifts in kind cannot be accepted. Red Cross will be absorbing all administrative costs associated in running the special appeal.
