We're Calling on You...

It's that time again when thousands of Australians rattle tins and knock on doors throughout March for Australian Red Cross' largest fundraising campaign - Red Cross Calling.

This year, an estimated 14,500 South Australian volunteers will knock, ring and tap on the doors of over half a million households across the state.

Funds raised will help Australian Red Cross continue to support the most vulnerable right here in South Australia by providing services such as Telecross, Transport, Save-A-Mate and Respite.

The state target for this year is $585,000.

'You may not be aware, but Australian Red Cross, South Australia receives less than 5 percent in government funding, so during March we ask for your support to assist Red Cross to help those in greatest need,' said Dale Cleaver, Executive Director of Australian Red Cross, South Australia.

This is the one time Australian Red Cross calls on all South Australians to assist us so we can continue to help those in need.

As well as knocking on doors, Red Cross volunteers will also be collecting at a number of special events during the month including Barossa Under the Stars (March 13 & 14), AFL match Port Adelaide vs Essendon at AAMI Stadium (March 28) and the RAAF Base Edinburgh (March 12).

'Red Cross Calling is a tradition which, over the last 54 years, has seen thousands of people knocking on doors around the state. This year Australian Red Cross will celebrate 90 years of helping people in need,' concluded Mr Cleaver.
