Judy Slatyer, CEO



Judy Slatyer joined Australian Red Cross as CEO in early 2016. She drives the strategic direction of Red Cross, ensuring it delivers on its mission of supporting and advocating for the most vulnerable people in Australia and around the world. Judy speaks publicly on a range of humanitarian issues. Prior to joining Red Cross she spent almost eight years as the global Chief Operating Officer at WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature) based in Switzerland. Judy, who holds an MBA, was also the CEO of Lonely Planet and also held senior roles in Telstra.

Noel Clement - Director of Migration, Emergencies and Movement Relations



Australian emergencies, disaster preparation, helping communities recover from disasters, addressing humanitarian needs of vulnerable migrants, and engagement with the Red Cross Red Crescent Movement.

Noel Clement is Director of Migration, Emergencies and Movement Relations with Australian Red Cross. He first joined Red Cross in 2001. Noel's responsibilities include migration and emergency service programs across Australia, International Humanitarian Law activities and leadership of key Red Cross Red Crescent Movement relationships. Noel has worked for almost 30 years in the not-for-profit sector, including many years in community-based organisations in community health and public housing. He holds a Bachelor of Social Work (PIT) and a Masters of Social Policy and Community Service Management (RMIT).

Kerry McGrath - Director of Community Programs



Areas of expertise: justice, homelessness, mental health, disability inclusion, food security, social inclusion, older people, children and families.

Kerry leads nation-wide programs to ensure people and communities experiencing deep social exclusion are empowered to determine their own futures. Kerry has an extensive background in social work, senior leadership and has always been committed to supporting the disadvantaged and more vulnerable people in our communities. She also volunteers in her spare time as an approved mentor with Leadership Victoria, and as a Board Committee Member of MacKillop Family Services.

Peter Walton - Director of International Programs



Areas of expertise: International development, overseas disasters that Australian Red Cross is responding to

Peter has over 25 years experience working in international development in both not-for-profit and the private sector. During his career he has undertaken assignments in over 40 countries, including in Vietnam where he was the Regional Representative for operations across the Mekong region for Child Fund Australia. During this time he was awarded the Vietnam Government's Medal for Peace and Friendship, the highest award offered to foreigners, for services towards social development and poverty alleviation. Before joining Australian Red Cross, Peter was Chief Executive of an enterprise that uses technology in support of social impact and social justice. Peter holds a Bachelor of Arts, a Master of Science (MSc) in Development Economics and an MBA.

Andrew Coghlan - National Manager of Emergency Services



Areas of expertise: Australian emergencies, disaster preparation, helping communities recover from disasters.

Andrew oversees our national emergency services and ensures Red Cross promotes resilience and builds community capacity, both in preparing for and responding to disasters throughout Australia. Andrew has also contributed to the development of the IFRC Global Resilience Strategy and is a key contributor to the work of the Australian Business Roundtable for Disaster Resilience & Safer Communities. Andrew is also Chair of the Australian Emergency Management Volunteer Forum, a Board member of both Volunteering Australia and Asia Australia Mental Health and a former Vice-President of the International Research Committee on Disasters.

John Richardson - Emergency preparation (Australia)



Areas of expertise: Disaster preparedness, behaviour change, impacts of disasters, disaster recovery, disaster memorials and commemoration

John Richardson is the National Coordinator, Preparedness for Red Cross. He established Emergency RediPlan in 2007, Red Cross' household preparedness program. Previously he coordinated recovery support for the Department of Human Services in Victoria. He has chaired the Disaster Recovery Sub-committee of the Community Services Ministers Advisory Council - the peak recovery body for Australia. He has represented Australia at the United Nations International Recovery Platform and was part of the Australian Government team sent to the U.S. following Hurricane Katrina. He is also an Honorary Fellow of the University of Melbourne as part of the Beyond Bushfires Research Team, researching the impacts of Victoria's Black Saturday bushfires.

Vicki Mau - National Manager of Migration Support Programs



Areas of expertise: Addressing human needs of vulnerable migrants, helping vulnerable migrants participate in communities to create a more cohesive society

Vicki's work addresses the needs of people who have been trafficked, held in immigration detention, separated from family, seeking protection from conflict or persecution, and migrants at risk of destitution or exploitation, as well as broader social cohesion programs. Vicki is also co-Chair of the Red Cross Red Crescent Asia Pacific Migration Network that seeks to build awareness and coordination in addressing migration issues in the region. Previously Vicki managed immigration detention monitoring for Australian Red Cross, and has worked for Australian and international agencies with refugee communities across Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, Gaza and the West Bank, as well as sub-Saharan Africa.

Helen Seignior - National Program Coordinator of the Support for Trafficked People Program



Areas of expertise: People trafficking, people fleeing forced marriage, child labour

Helen has 14 years experience in international development and humanitarian work, including more than six years driving programs to address child labour and child soldiering and other forms of human trafficking. Helen has worked with international NGOs, the International Labour Organisation (ILO) and the Red Cross/Red Crescent Movement in Latin America, the Caribbean, Africa, Eastern Europe, Canada and the USA.

Richard Wood - Head of Retail, Red Cross Shops



Areas of expertise: Clothing donations, casual volunteering, the opportunity shops sector

Red Cross Shops are located in more than 150 communities around Australia. Richard has extensive background in retail and business management, most recently heading up Dick Smith Foods as CEO. His career began with IBM, focusing on the banking and finance industry, prior to moving into specialty retail with general management roles in digital, merchandise, business development, operations and marketing.

Yvette Zegenhagen - National Manager of International Humanitarian Law



Areas of expertise: the laws of war, the role and mandate of the International RCRC Movement, protection of the red cross and red crescent emblems

The dissemination and implementation of international humanitarian law (IHL), also known as the laws of war, is a key priority for Australian Red Cross and a crucial part of the unique mandate of all 190 Red Cross and Red Crescent National Societies around the world. Yvette oversees our IHL program which aims to ensure that Australians involved in war and conflict understand that wars have laws and apply them; that Australian law and policy reflects IHL and humanitarian principles; and supports the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement in global matters of concern in IHL. Yvette is also Chair of the Red Cross Red Crescent National Society Asia Pacific Legal Advisers Network that seeks to build capacity and coordination in the dissemination of IHL in the region. Yvette has worked in a range of legal and training roles in the tertiary, not-for-profit and commercial sectors in Australia and overseas; immediately prior to joining Australian Red Cross was a commercial litigation lawyer in Melbourne.
