This course aims to equip 11 - 15 year olds with the basic knowledge and skills necessary to recognise and respond to life threatening emergencies using basic life support measures including cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
The specific topics covered by the course include first aid principles and priorities, recognition of injury or illness, recognition and management of the unconscious person, principles of Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), recognition and management of the victim of choking, asthma and epilepsy, shock, control of bleeding, care of wounds, pressure bandage, burns and scalds, soft tissue injuries and fractures, bites and stings and poisons.
There are no prerequisites for this youth first aid course.
