Australian Red Cross - The Power Of Humanity
  Home

Every day, Red Cross volunteers and staff work side by side with some of the world's most vulnerable people, implementing water programs, hygiene education, first aid training, blood donor recruitment, staffing mobile health clinics and hospitals and responding to disasters and emergencies.

Asia-Pacific - our home, our focus

In addition to more than 60 domestic programs, Australian Red Cross runs programs in around 20 countries internationally. Our major international focus is the Asia-Pacific.

This diverse region is home to around 3.9 billion people or almost two thirds of the world's population. It is also disaster prone and has areas of entrenched poverty and disadvantage.

Priorities in the Asia-Pacific region

Our international development programs in the region focus on the following areas of great need:

  • HIV prevention
  • disaster management
  • water and sanitation
  • basic health initiatives
  • supporting Red Cross national societies in the Asia-Pacific
