Immigration Detention Program

 
 

Australian Red Cross provides family tracing and message services to all people detained in the Australian government's on-shore and
off-shore immigration detention facilities.

Family tracing and message service aims to assist detainees re-establish contact with their relatives when separation was caused by war, conflict or disaster. ARC staff and volunteers also provide a range of emotional, social and recreational services in the facilities. Visits to
on-shore facilities such as Baxter (SA), Port Hedland & Perth Aiport (WA), Villawood (NSW) and Maribyrnong (VIC) are made either weekly, fortnightly or monthly. Visits to off-shore facilities in Christmas Island and Nauru are made depending on service needs.
