Description

This course provides the first aider with the knowledge and skills to carry out emergency first aid for life threatening injuries and illnesses, as well as to provide first aid care for injuries and illnesses in the home or in the workplace.

:: Online Senior First Aid (Workplace Level 2)
 
Description

This is an online version of our highly regarded Senior First Aid (Workplace L2) course, and provides the fundamental principles, knowledge and skills to enable the first aider to provide emergency care for injuries and illnesses, in the home or the workplace.

The course content is completed online in the student's own time, and is followed by an 8 hour practical skills instruction and assessment session at a Red Cross location with a certified Red Cross First Aid Trainer.

Course Duration

The online training component takes several hours and can be completed in sections at the student's preferred schedule. The practical skills instruction and assessment takes 8 hours at a Red Cross Training Location. Once registered, students have access to the course content for 12 months.

Assessment Method

The course content is conducted online in the student's own time. This component includes several short quizzes and onscreen assessment activities. Upon successful completion of the online component, students can book into a one day Practical Skills Instruction and Assessment Session that provides practical instruction and assessment.

Course Award

On successful completion of this course participants will be issued with a Statement of Attainment for the nationally recognised unit of competency from the Health Training Package, HLTFA301B - Apply First Aid.

:: Senior First Aid Refresher (Workplace Level 2)
 

Description

The course allows the first aider to update the knowledge and skills gained (within the previous 3 years) and revise first aid procedures. Participants will be updated on changes since their previous Workplace 2 or Senior First Aid Course.

Purpose and description

This course provides the occupational first aider with the more advanced knowledge and skills to carry out emergency first aid for injuries and illnesses in the workplace. It will also provide information on state and federal legislations as it applies to workplace first aid.

Prerequisite

A current Senior First Aid/Workplace Level 2 Statement of Attainment is a prerequisite for enrolment into this course. Current industry standard is for this course to be updated every 3 years with the Advanced Resuscitation component being updated every 12 months.

Course duration

Minimum of thirty hours.

Assessment method

Demonstration of practical skills, role plays, case studies and a written quiz.

Course award

On successful completion of this course participants will be issued a  Statement of Attainment accrediting the following nationally recognised units of competency from the Health Training Package, HLTFA402B Apply advanced first aid, HLTFA403A Manage first aid in the workplace and HLTFA404A Apply advanced resuscitation techniques.

Description

Perform CPR - Online is the online version of our highly regarded Perform CPR course. Students can complete the course in their own time, place, and pace. The course is designed to teach the knowledge and skills necessary to maintain breathing and circulation in an adult, child or infant following cardiac arrest. Content is based on Australian Resuscitation Council 2006 guidelines.

The course can be conducted as a standalone course, or to gain CPR certification. To gain your Statement of Attainment (for the nationally recognised unit of competency from the Health Training Package, HLTCPR201A - Perform CPR), once you have successfully completed the online course and quiz, contact Red Cross on 1300 367 428 to book a CPR competency assessment with a Trainer at a Red Cross location.

Description

This Advanced Resuscitation course is designed to teach the knowledge and skills necessary to maintain breathing and circulation in an adult, child or infant using various mechanical aids and supplemental oxygen.

Course content

  • operate suction equipment

Description

This course provides the skills and knowledge to perform basic first aid.

The course provides participants with the knowledge and skills to carry out emergency first aid for life threatening injures and illnesses.  The course focuses on the more common injuries and illnesses involving infants and young children. It is designed for parents, grandparents and other care givers to children.

There are no prerequisites for this course. Current industry standard is for this course to be updated every 3 years with the CPR component being updated every 12 months.

On successful completion of this course participants will be issued with a Statement of Attainment for the nationally recognised unit of competency from the Health Training Package, HLTFA201A - provide Basic Emergency Life Support.

:: Remote First Aid
 

Description

This course provides the knowledge and skills to perform first aid in remote situations.

This course teaches the skills and knowledge required to provide first aid response; life support; management of person(s), the incident and other first aiders in remote situations until handed over to medical or other assistance. Part of this course will take place in a remote or simulated location. Contact your state office for venue details.

The prerequisite for this course is a current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Statement of Attainment (within last 12 months) and a current Senior First Aid/Workplace Level 2 Statement of Attainment (within the last 3 years).

Course content

  • preparation for remote situations

  • administration of medicines on advice from authorised medical personnel
  • methods of evacuation

:: First Aid Management of Anaphylaxis
 

Description

The course in First Aid Management of Anaphylaxis 21659VIC is designed to establish the essential skills and underpinning knowledge necessary to assist a person suffering a severe allergic reaction and anaphylaxis until the arrival of medical assistance.  

The course is based on the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines. There are no prerequisites for this course, and on successful completion participants will receive a nationally recognized Statement of Attainment for 'First Aid Management of Anaphylaxis 21659VIC'.

Australian Red Cross provides a practical, cost-effective, high quality service and aims to deliver flexible and relevant training that integrates work experience with structured classroom training

Course Content

The course is designed to enable participants on completing the training, to be confident in assisting a person suffering a severe allergic reaction or suffering an anaphylactic reaction. It provides the participant with the skills and competence to:

  • assess the situation and identify signs of a person suffering a severe allergic reaction
  • identify hazards to the health and safety of self and others and minimise any risks
  • conduct a Risk Assessment and develop an Action Plan for a person diagnosed as Anaphylactic
  • provide appropriate first aid treatment for anaphylactic reaction
    administration of Adrenaline (Epinephrine) by EpiPen(r)
  • evaluate first aid response to anaphylactic reaction
  • provide reports where applicable

Assessment Method

Demonstration of practical skills, role plays, case studies and a written quiz.

Certification

On successful completion of course, participants will receive a nationally recognized Statement of Attainment for 'First Aid Management of Anaphylaxis 21659VIC '.

Description

The short course in Pandemic and Infection Control Awareness Training has been designed to provide the public and business community with the knowledge and the practical skills necessary to minimise their risks of being exposed to a respiratory illness either at home or in the workplace. The course is based on the Australian Government Department of Health and Aging, Australian Health Management Plan for Pandemic Influenza 2008. There are no prerequisites for this course, and upon successful completion participants will receive a statement of attendance.

Description

This course in OH&S Consultation has been developed by WorkCover NSW to meet the training requirements for the OH&S committee and OH&S Representatives, as stated in the OH&S Regulation 2001.   This course is currently run at our Sydney CBD training centre (onsite group training is also available – ph: 1300 367 428 for more information).
