After the floods

Floods leave a trail of debris and despair and at the first look, it often seems hopeless. But there are many simple things you can do to take control of the situation.

The fact sheets below provide information that will help you clean up and repair your home and valuables.

Remember:
You should always contact your insurer before undertaking any clean up activities, and if you do not feel confident in undertaking any of these activities, you should seek the assistance of a qualified, licensed professional.

For several weeks in early 2008, Queensland endured heavy rains after years of drought. The resulting floods, particuarly in central-western Queensland, affected already isolated communities.

Cleaning up after a flood can be a long drawn out process, so take your time and look after yourself.

For more tips on how to look after yourself read our coping with a major personal crisis booklet.
