Board Members

Deven Patel
Chair
Deven's involvement began with Red Cross in 1978, when he was doing an audit of Red Cross NT as a junior auditor with KPMG. He went on to be an engagement partner with KPMG in 1986. Deven has been an active supporter of fundraising events and joined the Council in 1992. In 1994 he was elected as honorary treasurer and continued in the position until 2006 when he was elected the position of deputy chairman. Deven was elected Chairman in November 2007 and was awarded an honorary life membership in 2006.

Belinda Peacocke
Board Member and Divisional Representative to the National Red Cross Council
Belinda has been involved with Red Cross NT since 2002. She actively participated in various youth programs, including the SHAK, Good Start Breakfast Club and Tiwi Island School Holiday Program, and chaired YESAC, before joining the Board in 2006. She has also served on the National Council of Red Cross since 2006. Belinda has extensive experience as a workplace relations lawyer and is currently the Senior Manager of Employee Relations for the NT's Power and Water Corporation.

Foster Stavridis
Board Member and Divisional Representative to the National Red Cross Council
Foster has extensive corporate experience encompassing a number of fields of strategic business practices and has undertaken significant project management assignments within the law enforcement environment. He has gained recognition at the national level his achievements relating to youth work experience programs for individuals with disabilities and was nominated for the Prime Minister's Employer of the Year Award on a number of occasions.

Charles Burkitt
Board Member and Deputy Chair
Charles has extensive experience in the financial markets being an investment advisor for over 15 years, currently with ABN AMRO Morgans. He has had a long indirect family association with Red Cross NT and has participated in fundraising events over this period. Charles also has broad experience from other Board representations with other entities.

Simon Lee
Board Member and IHL Committee
Simon has worked as a Japanese Government Bond trader, an Army Legal Officer, an NT Government prosecutor and has since July 2005 been a barrister practising at the private bar in Darwin. He has been a member of the IHL Committee since 2002 before becoming the chair of that committee in 2007. Simon joined the Red Cross NT Board in 2007.

Kath Phelan
Board Member
Kath's experience is in education and management in both the public and private sectors. She has a strong interest in the welfare of young people. Kath is retired and has been a volunteer and member of Red Cross NT Board since 2006.

Desmond Campbell
Board Member
Desmond is currently studying his Bachelor of Community Management full time at Macquarie University in Sydney, which a majority of the study is through correspondence. In his current employment, Desmond is a Youth and Education Project Officer for the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR).
Desmond often volunteers his time by participating in various groups/events which has a focus on NT youth. In 2008 he was the Youth Event Organiser for the Darwin NAIDOC Committee and was also a member of the Youth Minister’s Round Table of Young Territorians. Desmond enjoys playing an active role in the community and believes it’s important to have an Indigenous youth perspective.
