Asylum Seekers Assistance Scheme (ASAS)  

ASAS is a government initiative administered by Australian Red Cross NSW. It assists asylum seekers in Australia who are in the process of having their refugee status determined.

This scheme provides eligible asylum seekers with financial assistance and limited healthcare assistance, plus referrals to other agencies for settlement issues.

Based in the Sydney metropolitan area, the scheme has been operating since 1993.
