Hands On

The service
Hands On is a service provided for long-term patients in hospitals, aged care facilities, mental health units and day respite centres across New South Wales.
Through face and hand massage and manicures, as well as the provision of companionship and emotional support, the Hands On program aims to provide relief from the potentially debilitating effects of being in a clinical environment.
Hands On improves the quality of life, self-confidence and well-being of patients and, indirectly, the volunteers who deliver the service, through the opportunity to share the power of personal touch with another.
It is entirely funded by donations received from the general public and some local councils, and relies heavily on generous donations and volunteers. Donations are greatly appreciated. Sponsorship, in the form of skin and nail products, is also necessary for the program's continued success. Camouflage Clinics
The Camouflage Clinic is a specialised extension of the Hands On service.
Specially-trained volunteers offer particular make-up and consultative support to clients with burn injuries, scarring, birth marks, Vitiligo, Lupus and Karposi's Sarcoma - a condition often affecting people with HIV/AIDS.
This service is provided on a regular basis or as necessary by appointment.

1. Make a donation

2. Become a volunteer
The success of the program is dependent upon the ongoing interest and commitment of our volunteers. By getting involved in the Hands On program, volunteers reap the benefits of formal training, and gain a sense of achievement in assisting those most vulnerable in our community.
