We are not a target

Once again we grieve for colleagues killed, this time in the Central African Republic.

The cost of peace is always high, and humanitarians the world over have always paid it - but wrongfully so.

We are outraged and heartbroken by the deaths of six Red Cross volunteers this week in the Central African Republic.

The volunteers were killed while they were on duty at a health facility. Reports are also suggesting civilians and medical staff were killed as well.

It's the third attack this year in the Central African Republic to claim the lives of Red Cross people.  Worldwide, more than 70 health workers have been killed, kidnapped, injured or assaulted in 2017 so far.   We grieve with the families of our slain colleagues and we call on all armed actors, everywhere: you must protect medical personnel and facilities.
