Signature Mumford & Sons banjo raised nearly $3,500 for Red Cross.

Grammy award winning British rock band, Mumford & Sons, have extended a helping hand to Red Cross by commissioning and signing a custom banjo to raise money for our vital work in the community.

The banjo was auctioned over the weekend and is one of four being sold for charity online, in celebration of the band's tour through Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney and Auckland.

Each instrument has been expertly crafted by Deering Banjos, featuring the Mumford & Sons 2015 tour artwork along with each band member's signature.

Red Cross is incredibly grateful to the band, to Deering Banjos, and to the lucky musician and/or Mumford & Sons fan who picked up the Brisbane tour banjo for almost $3,500AUD over the weekend.

As the winner plucks away on this beautiful instrument, we hope they will feel extra good knowing that proceeds from their exciting purchase will support the everyday work of Red Cross - providing disaster, relief and recovery support for people affected by bushfires or floods, daily phone calls to elderly people who live alone and clean drinking water for families in remote communities around the world.

Charity auctions are a wonderful way to support Red Cross and bring hope and comfort to vulnerable people around Australia and further afield. If you would like to host your own auction or fundraising activity for Red Cross, tell us about your plans here - we'd love to hear from you.
