Cambodia

Bordered by Thailand, Laos, and Vietnam, many Cambodians are vulnerable to poverty and struggle to access health services, clean water and sanitation. Landmines and other explosive remnants of war scatter the countryside and continue to injure and kill decades after the end of the Indo-China conflict.

Working with Cambodian Red Cross, we support their humanitarian work to improve health and reduce risks for vulnerable people.

Disability inclusion and Cambodia's landmine legacy

Cambodia still has landmines and other explosive remnants of war from the Indo-China conflict of the 1970s and 1980s. The Cambodia Initiative for Disability Inclusion works to improve the quality of life for people living with disabilities.

Commitment to health

Alongside Cambodian Red Cross we support community-based health programs that target rural communities most in need. We are working to address the water and sanitation needs of vulnerable groups and of people living with disabilities. We also promote hygiene messages, maternal and child health and educate about the risks of drug use and HIV transmission.

Sharing skills

Working with Cambodian Red Cross we share methods and skills in developing and measuring programs. The staff and volunteers at Cambodian Red Cross know their communities best and with support from Australian Red Cross in organisational development, more vulnerable people can be helped more effectively.
