An eclectic mix of retro furnishings, historic material and modern fittings are part of the cool new premises for vocational education and training in Adelaide.
State Minister for Employment, Higher Education and Skills, Tom Kenyon, will officially open the new Red Cross College site on Currie Street today.
Clinton Jury, a senior Manager at Red Cross College said "We've positioned ourselves in a convenient, easy to access location and created a space that will inspire our students. The new facility will enable us to grow the number of students that come through our doors by 50% and as a result we have significantly expanded the number of courses we provide."
"Our focus is to deliver training that meets workforce trends, including up-skilling people for sectors that are experiencing skills shortages or increasing demand."
Traditionally known for offering First Aid, Red Cross College has leveraged off its experience in training to offer certificates in aged care, retail, business and management and workplace compliance products and services.
"With the State Government's Skills for All initiative, we are able to offer fee-free and heavily subsided nationally accredited qualifications to 450 South Australians over the next 12 months," said Mr Jury.
"In addition, we offer work experience opportunities through Red Cross' retail and community service operations and through our partner networks, further increasing our students' chances of securing a job after completing their studies."
My Jury said the new facility had been designed to reflect the modern workplace with break-out spaces and a café style lunch room.
"Matched with flexible training and work experience options, students are given the best opportunity to develop their professional skills, connect with each other and the community and go on to gain sustainable employment."
