What is the difference between the current units and the new ones?
The new unit will cover the same topics but will be more in-depth and comprehensive for students. With an increased focus on practical application of first aid techniques students will have more hands on time to put what they have learned into practice in a simulated classroom environment. Ultimately participants will leave confident to apply correct and effective first aid support in an emergency situation.
Will Red Cross Training Services send me a reminder when my certificate needs refreshing?
Yes, Red Cross Training Services provides a reminder mail service for all first aid courses. To help us provide you with this service, please ensure we have your most up to date contact details. If you move house or change phone number or email, please call us on 1300 367 428 to update your details.
What if I am overdue to renew my qualification?
Red Cross Training Services follows the Australian Resuscitation Council guidelines and recommends that all refresher courses are completed within standard timeframes, however you may be offered a grace period.
Red Cross Training Services urges all First Aid Practitioners to comply with their local workplace or industry specific requirements regarding first aid qualifications. Once they have passed the recertification timeframe, they may not be recognised as being valid and current by industry therefore you may have to complete the full course.
What is a refresher course and are they available for all courses?
Refresher courses do not re-teach the material and skills previously covered. The focus is upon revising the knowledge and skills learnt through practical demonstrations, group participation in scenarios and discussion. A refresher course will also update you on any changes to first aid techniques that may have occurred since your last course. Students attending refresher courses are expected to review their training manual and/or notes prior to attending a course. Students will be required to demonstrate their competency via practical assessments and a mini quiz.
