Towards Eliminating Nuclear Weapons Conference

3-4 November 2012, Adelaide

Australian Red Cross is pleased to announce it is co-hosting a conference that will advance the debate on the urgent need to develop a legally binding tool to prohibit and eliminate nuclear weapons.

In conjunction with Flinders University and with the support of the Bob Hawke Prime Ministerial Centre at UniSA, this high profile conference will draw together leading academics and experts from around the world to explore a range of themes from the legality of the use of nuclear weapons to their devastating humanitarian and environmental impacts and the role of governments, advocacy groups and civil society in furthering the debate.

The keynote speaker is Judge C.G. Weeramantry, Panel Judge on the 1996 International Court of Justice "Legality of use or threat of use of Nuclear Weapons" Advisory Opinion.
