Community Visitors Scheme Volunteer

We are urgently seeking volunteers in Burnie, our North West region!

Enrich the quality of life of a resident of an aged care facility by offering friendship and companionship through regular visiting.

The Community Visitors Scheme is a Commonwealth Government initiative. Red Cross volunteers provide companionship to socially isolated residents living in aged care facilities across Australia on a one to one basis. The Community Visitors Scheme Program Coordinator will match a volunteer with a resident of an aged care facility based on interests, hobbies, background and life experiences. The volunteer is required to visit the resident at least once a fortnight.

Community Visitors Scheme volunteers are required to work sensitively and positively with the resident of an aged care facility, demonstrate respect for all individuals in the program and maintain confidentiality. Community Visitors Scheme volunteers are required to commit to the program for a minimum of one year.
