Code of conduct

The Australian Red Cross Code of Conduct was launched in November 2010 and was developed by staff and volunteers for staff and volunteers.

Seven key conduct areas were identified for inclusion in the Code:

  • Fundamental Principles
  • Respect
  • Integrity
  • Empowerment
  • Accountability
  • Representation
  • Champion

All staff and volunteers are required to sign up to the Code upon employment. Our individual behaviour against the seven conduct areas is measured in regular performance reviews to ensure that the Code is 'lived' throughout the organisation.

As a signatory to the Australian Council for International Development (ACFID) Code of Conduct, we are committed to high standards in financial reporting, management and ethical practice. Further information on the code and its complaints handling procedure is available at
