Take part in the ultimate sporting weekend with The Sydney Morning Herald Sun Run.

The Sun Run takes place on Saturday 6 February 2016. Whether you are an elite runner, jogger or walker, everyone is welcome!

Making up the finale part of the ultimate sporting weekend, on Sunday, February 7 2016, Australia's largest ocean swim - the iconic Cole Classic will take place in Manly. Participants can choose to test their abilities and enter a 1km, 2km or new 5km course.

As the world's largest open water swim, the Karma Resorts Rottnest Channel Swim is a truly iconic Australian event. Starting against the backdrop of stunning Cottesloe beach at dawn, swimmers make the 19.7km crossing to Rottnest Island, another Western Australian icon.

Whether participating as a solo, duo or team, swimmers spend endless time preparing themselves for the swim. Countless hours of training, vital nutrition and hydration education, and enormous skipper and paddler support form part of each swimmers event plan.

Each individual is a truly inspiring athlete and takes away a huge sense of achievement in making the crossing, putting aside fear and fatigue to make history.

The Australian Running Festival offers an event for all abilities, from serious runners to joggers, wheelchairs, pushers and walkers.

The following runs will be held in the Nation's Capital this April:

  • Saturday, April 9, 2016 - 5km and 10km fun runs.
  • Sunday, April 10, 2016 - Half Marathon, Marathon and Ultra Marathon.

The Australian Running Festival aims to raise much needed funds for more than 180 charities.

Race information

Challenge yourself in Australia's largest and most prestigious Half Marathon on Sunday, May 15, 2016.

The Sydney Morning Herald Half Marathon course takes in harbourside icons such as the Opera House, Harbour Bridge and Pyrmont Peninsula.

Take on the 21.1km course or get a team together and enter in the Relay. The Relay consists of teams of two and is split into a 7km and 14km leg.

The sister event to the world's largest run is returning to Brisbane, the second annual City2South and will take place on Sunday, June 5, 2015.

In 2016, join in with the 5km course; the perfect distance for new runners who are looking to challenge themselves. In addition, the 14km course will take participants from the Botanic Gardens, along Coronation Drive, through the University of Queensland and back through Highgate "Heartbreak" Hill.

Elite runners, joggers and walkers from around Australia will be joined by many dressed in novelty themed costumes with live music along the route.

City2Surf is not just Sydney's favourite sporting event, it is the world's largest run and is taking place on August 14, 2016.
