Centenary Fundraiser BBQs

Red Cross teamed up with Bunnings Warehouse to help celebrate its 100th birthday in Australia, and the results were an outstanding success!

Thanks to the generosity of Bunnings and the Australian public we collected $455,000 in just two days at Red Cross Centenary Fundraiser BBQs held nationally in city centres and Bunnings stores.

In true Red Cross spirit, more than 3,600 volunteers helped at 251 BBQs nationally over the weekend and helped cook more than 147,000 sausages!

Australian Red Cross CEO Robert Tickner said funds raised will go towards the vital services Red Cross provides in local communities right across the country.

"Thanks to the generosity of Bunnings who donated the food and drink, funds raised from the Centenary Fundraiser BBQ will help Red Cross continue its everyday work assisting Australians in need so that we can be there helping communities for another 100 years," Robert Tickner said.

"Thank you to everyone who visited Bunnings and bought a sausage or made a donation to support our everyday work helping people doing it tough.

"We are also immensely grateful to our volunteers, members and staff for their fantastic work during the Fundraiser BBQ and over the last 100 years.

Bunnings Managing Director, John Gillam, said team members were thrilled to be part of such a worthy initiative.

"The Red Cross Centenary Fundraiser BBQ was a terrific way for Bunnings and all Australians to show their appreciation for the wonderful work done by Red Cross volunteers, as well as to help Red Cross continue its everyday work helping Australians in need," said John Gillam.

In its Centenary year, Red Cross is thanking generations of Australians for their support while looking to a new generation to continue the proud legacy of 100 years of people helping people. The Red Cross Centenary Fundraiser BBQ was a terrific way to reach out to thousands of Australians in local communities, to share more about how Red Cross is there in crisis, so they too can become a part of this great Australian story.
