Ali Masumi is a former refugee who is now an emergency services volunteer with Red Cross in Brisbane. "When I came to Australia in 2012, Red Cross helped me move on with my life. In my own way, I just wanted to give something back to Australian society," he says.
Red Cross provides support for refugees, asylum seekers, people who may have been trafficked or forced into marriage, and those who've been separated from their loved ones by disaster or conflict. We work with people regardless of how they arrived in Australia and regardless of their immigration status because we believe that everyone deserves the right to the basic necessities of life, dignity and respect.
- $10 will contribute to programs that reconnect families torn apart by war, conflict and disasters.
- $50 will help family members separated by war, conflict and disasters to find each other again. Every year thousands of families lose touch with loved ones caught up in areas of conflict or disaster. Through our worldwide tracing network, Red Cross works to re-establish that contact, by sending messages and clarifying the fate of missing loved ones
- $250 will help tutor newly arrived refugee parents on where to find affordable and fresh ingredients in Australia and what to cook to provide well balanced and nutritious meals for their families.
