On 16 December 2016, a Tsunami swept through Alice Springs in the Northern Territory. Countless homes have been washed away, hundreds of people have lost their lives and thousands of people have been affected.

How will the money be spent?
Funds raised through the Simulated Alice Springs Tsunami Appeal 2016 will be used to assist individuals, families and communities directly affected by the Alice Springs Tsunami.
Australian Red Cross will not deduct any funds from public donations for appeal or administration costs. Should the funds raised exceed the amount required, Australian Red Cross will use any excess to assist in future disasters in Australia. All interest earned on donations will be invested back into the appeal. The funds raised will be distributed through an independent panel which will involve community input.
