Alberto Cairo: Disability in Afghanistan

Thursday August 25, 2016

Alberto Cairo has spent more than 25 years working in ICRC's orthopaedic rehabilitation centre in Kabul providing some of Afghanistan's most vulnerable people with artificial limbs, mobility devices and physical rehabilitation.

Join us to hear about Alberto's pioneering work. The program he runs provides much more than prosthetic limbs, it also fosters social reintegration through vocational training, employment, education and sport. He will speak about ICRC's policy of 'positive discrimination', which ensures that the majority of employees working in the orthopaedic program in Afghanistan are people with disabilities.

Date: Thursday August 25
Time: 5.00 - 6.00PM
