Queensland Floods
Emergency Service teams have assisted over 25,000 people across three flood ravaged regions
17 April 2008

Preparing for disaster!

Since January this year, regional Queensland has seen what is tipped to be the worst floods in 20 years.

Activations in Emerald, Charleville and Mackay had Red Cross Emergency Service teams working around the clock, manning evacuation centres, providing personal support and conducting outreach visits to check on the health and well-being of affected residents.

Queensland floods

Whilst all three regions are on the way to recovery, there is no guarantee that disaster will not strike again.

To better prepare and respond to disasters, Red Cross needs more volunteers to train as Emergency Service volunteers. Personal Support Training is being offered for existing and new volunteers at various locations throughout Queensland.

To register for Personal Support training or for further information, please contact the Emergency Services Officer on 1800 733 111 or email to qldemergency@redcross.org.au.

Red Cross Emergency Service teams are well trained and on-call 24 hours to respond to disasters across the nation every day of the year.
